Intimate Oxford, Mississippi Wedding in The Square | Hannah Ellis Photography

This summer Oxford, Mississippi wedding started at a local Airbnb and ended with an intimate ceremony, dinner, and reception at Miscellanea in the heart of downtown Oxford. Written and Photographed by Hannah Ellis Photography.

In this blog you will see highlights of the couple spending the morning getting ready with their closest people before we moved into their first look, wedding party portraits, and bride and groom portraits at the Airbnb. After that, we headed downtown for their ceremony at Miscellanea, followed by dinner and a relaxed reception.

Becayse you can't have an Oxford wedding without taking advantage of the Square, we also made time for newlywed portraits around downtown after the ceremony.

The entire day was intimate, intentional, and gave us so much room to document the moments without rushing from one thing to the next.

Getting Ready at an Oxford, MS Airbnb

The wedding day began at an Airbnb in Oxford, Mississippi, where the couple got ready before their ceremony downtown.

One of my favorite things about photographing an intimate wedding is having the opportunity to document the entire story of the day, not just the ceremony itself.

The quiet moments getting ready, the little details, the anticipation, and the people surrounding you all become part of your wedding photographs.

The Airbnb also gave us a beautiful, intimate setting for their first look and portraits before heading to the Square.

Bridal Portraits | Oxford Wedding

The day began with bridal portraits at the Airbnb.

Before seeing her groom, we took some time for portraits of the bride on her own. The Airbnb gave us a beautiful setting to photograph her dress, details, and bridal portraits while keeping everything relaxed and unhurried.

I love having this time built into a wedding timeline because it allows us to focus on the bride and create portraits that feel intentional without trying to squeeze them in between other parts of the day.

Bridal Party

After bridal portraits, we brought in the bride's side of the wedding party for portraits.

Having the bridal party portraits completed before the first look helped keep the rest of the timeline moving smoothly. It also gave us a chance to photograph everyone together while they were fresh, excited, and ready for the day.

Groom’s Portraits & Party

Next, we photographed the groom and his side of the wedding party.

Just like with the bridal portraits, this gave us dedicated time for groom portraits before the couple saw each other. The Airbnb offered plenty of variety for these photographs while keeping everyone close and ready for the next part of the day.

Husband & Wife First Look & Portraits

After spending the morning photographing them separately, this was the first time they saw each other on their wedding day.

Once they had a moment together, we moved into bride and groom portraits at the Airbnb.

Doing their first look and couple portraits before the ceremony gave us plenty of time to create portraits without having to rush through them later in the day. It also meant that once we arrived downtown, the focus could shift completely to the ceremony and celebrating with their guests.

Wedding Party

We brought the entire wedding party together for full wedding party portraits.

With the individual sides already photographed, we were able to move efficiently through these group photographs and finish everything before leaving the Airbnb.

This is one of my favorite ways to structure a wedding timeline. Getting the majority of the formal portraits completed beforehand leaves so much more flexibility once the ceremony begins.

Family Portraits

we wrapped up portraits at the Airbnb with family portraits. Getting the family photographs done before leaving for downtown meant everyone could head to the ceremony knowing the formal portraits were taken care of.

From there, we traveled into downtown Oxford and headed to Miscellanea Spirit House to prepare for the ceremony.

Intimate Oxford Downtown Ceremony & Reception

Ceremony at Miscellanea Spirit House in The Square

Ceremony details captured at Miscellanea Spirit House

From the Airbnb, we headed into downtown Oxford for the couple's intimate wedding ceremony at Miscellanea.

With their closest friends and family gathered around them, the ceremony was personal and intentional from beginning to end.

Located in the historic Oxford Square, Miscellanea gave the couple a beautiful setting for their ceremony before transitioning into dinner and their reception later that evening.

Newly Wed Portraits Around Oxford Square

After the ceremony, we took advantage of being right in the heart of downtown Oxford and headed out for newlywed portraits around the Oxford Square.

This is one of my favorite parts of photographing a wedding in Oxford, Mississippi. The Square gives couples so many different backdrops within a short walk, and incorporating the surrounding architecture and streets into their gallery makes the photographs feel connected to the place where they got married.

After spending the morning at the Airbnb, these portraits also gave the gallery a completely different look and feel.

Reception at Miscellanea

After portraits around the Square, everyone headed back to Miscellanea for dinner and the reception.

With an intimate guest list, the evening was centered around good food, conversation, and celebrating with the people closest to them.

There was no need for a huge reception or an over-packed timeline. Instead, the evening felt like what it was meant to be: a celebration with their favorite people.a

An Intimate Oxford, Mississippi Wedding

From getting ready at an Airbnb to portraits with their closest friends, a private first look, an intimate ceremony, and newlywed portraits around the Oxford Square, every part of this wedding day felt intentional.

It was a reminder that your wedding doesn't have to follow a traditional format.

You can get ready somewhere that feels like home. You can take portraits before the ceremony. You can get married downtown, walk around the Square with your photographer, and end the evening around a dinner table with the people you love.

And honestly, those are some of my favorite wedding days to photograph.
